Getting Started

Setup guides, device compatibility, and your first steps

What exactly is GuardianGamer, and is it right for my family? +

GG is a safe, cloud-based gaming playground for kids (think ages 6-12, but flexible for under-13s) where they can play hits like Roblox and Minecraft Java without the scary stuff sneaking in.

You approve games, set limits, and get fun recaps—it's like Netflix for games, but with a safety net. If your kids love multiplayer fun but you're worried about strangers or screen time, this is for you.

💡 PARENTING TIP
This is perfect if you're tired of hovering over their shoulder during online play but still want peace of mind.
📝 NOTE
Works best for kids who already love Roblox/Minecraft but need safer boundaries. Start free at guardiangamer.com—no credit card needed.
How do I sign up and set it up? Will it take all afternoon? +

Five minutes, tops! Follow the wizard and save the app on your homescreen (works on phones, tablets, laptops—anything with Wi-Fi), create a parent account with your email, and add your kid's profile. Boom—done.

We'll guide you with pop-up tips and a quick video (under 2 minutes).

⚠️ WARNING
Only use first names or nicknames for kids' profiles - never full names.
PARENTING TIP
Set it up when kids aren't around so you can explore the parent dashboard in peace first. Do it over coffee; my 8-year-old was playing his first approved Minecraft build while I sipped.
📱 NOTE
The setup wizard has helpful tooltips at every step - you really can't mess it up. The parent dashboard starts empty—highlights and insights flow in as your kids play more.
What devices does it work on? Do I need a fancy gaming setup? +

Nope! GG streams games from the cloud, so it runs on whatever you've got:

  • iPad for car rides
  • Old laptop at home
  • Desktop computers
  • Tablets and phones

Just decent internet (like what you use for Zoom calls). No downloads, no storage hogs—keeps your devices happy.

🔧 TECH TIP
Works on devices as old as 2018 models - no need for latest gadgets. Test on your slowest device first - if it works there, everywhere else will be great.
⚠️ WARNING
School-issued devices might have restrictions - check with IT first.
📱

Downloads & QR Codes

Troubleshooting downloads, QR codes, and getting apps on your devices

Where's the QR code? My child's device doesn't download from App Store! +

Great question! GuardianGamer works differently than traditional apps - it's a web app that works directly in your browser, which means no App Store download needed!

Here's what happens when you scan the QR code:

  1. Your child's device opens a special webpage
  2. Tap "Add to Home Screen" (this makes it look and work like a regular app)
  3. Tap "Add" to confirm

That's it! The GuardianGamer icon will appear on their home screen just like any other app. No App Store, no downloads, no waiting!

📱 WHERE TO FIND THE QR CODE
Log into your Parent App, go to the "Gamers" section, and click "Create Sign-In Code" next to your child's name. A QR code will appear that you can scan with their device.
💡 SMALL SCREEN TIP
On iPhone/iPad: After scanning, tap the Share button (square with arrow) → "Add to Home Screen" → "Add"
On Android: After scanning, tap menu (three dots) → "Add to Home Screen" → "Add"
How do I add GuardianGamer to multiple devices? +

Easy! You can add as many devices as your child uses. Here's how to get a new connection code:

  1. Log into your Parent App on your phone
  2. Go to the "Gamers" section or tab
  3. Click "Create Sign-In Code" next to your child's name
  4. Scan the new QR code with the additional device

Each device will have the GuardianGamer app on its home screen, and your child can play from any of them!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 PARENTING TIP
Add it to all family devices so kids can play on whatever's available - their iPad, family laptop, or even grandma's tablet when visiting!
How do I get the Parent App on my phone? +

The Parent App works similar to the Gamer App - it's also a web app you can add to your phone's home screen.

Here's how to get it on your phone:

  1. Open your phone's web browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android)
  2. Go to guardiangamer.gg
  3. Log in with your parent account
  4. Add to home screen (same way as the Gamer App)

On iPhone: Tap Share button → "Add to Home Screen" → "Add"
On Android: Tap menu (three dots) → "Add to Home Screen" → "Add"

Now you can check highlights and monitor your child's gaming from anywhere!

Wait, what's cloud gaming? Sounds like sci-fi. +

It's super simple: Imagine watching a movie on Netflix—the video streams straight to your screen without downloading the whole film. GG does that for games.

Your kid plays Roblox or Minecraft on powerful servers far away (the "cloud"), and it beams the action to your device in real-time. No giant installs (goodbye, 10GB updates!), no laggy old computers.

My family loves it because we can game on vacation without packing a console. Just need Wi-Fi—aim for 10 Mbps or better for smooth sailing.

💡 PARENTING TIP
Test your internet speed at fast.com - if it's over 10, you're golden.
🎮 NOTE
Cloud gaming means instant play - no "downloading update" delays. Works in hotels, grandma's house, anywhere with Wi-Fi.
📱 WARNING
Uses data like streaming video - watch out on limited mobile plans.
What games can my kids play? Can I pick what they see? +

Right now, we offer:

  • Roblox - top 1200 popular age-appropriate games (creative worlds, no creeps)
  • Minecraft Java Edition (coming soon!)

You control it all: Browse our library in the parent dashboard, tap "Approve" for stuff that fits your rules (e.g., no shooters, yes to animal farms), and hide the rest. It's like curating their Spotify playlist—empowering and easy.

💡 PARENTING TIP
Start with just 2-3 approved games to avoid choice overload, then add more as they master those. Review game choices together with your kid - makes them feel involved while you keep control.
📝 NOTE
All games are pre-vetted for age-appropriateness, but you still have final say. If your 10-year-old begs for a specific game, suggest it via our feedback form!

Safety & Privacy

AI monitoring, stranger protection, and how we keep kids safe

How does GG keep my kid safe from online weirdos or bad content? +

We built a "walled garden"—a private bubble where kids only play with approved friends. Strict no-stranger policy: No random chats, ever.

AI monitors everything in real-time and flags anything concerning, like bullying words or inappropriate content, so you can address it with your child. Plus, it's COPPA-compliant (that means top-tier kid privacy).

💡 PARENTING TIP
Explain the "walled garden" concept to kids as "playing in our backyard vs the public park."
⚠️ WARNING
Even with protection, still have regular conversations about online safety.
PEACE OF MIND
Zero tolerance for stranger contact - not even friend requests from unknowns. As a parent, I sleep better knowing it's not just rules—it's proactive protection.
What's this AI supervision thing? Is it like Big Brother watching? +

Think of it as a helpful assistant: AI watches for risks without being intrusive. It flags concerning language, detects bullying, and reviews conversations for problems.

No human peeks unless you want; it's all automated for speed. Best part? It creates adorable highlight reels—like a 30-second video of your kid's epic Minecraft castle build. We watch them together now—turns "screen time" into family stories.

💡 PARENTING TIP
Use highlight reels as conversation starters at dinner - "Show me what you built today!" Kids actually like showing off their highlight reels - turns monitoring into sharing.
🔒 TRANSPARENCY
AI never stores personal info, just flags concerning patterns. You can review any flagged content and adjust sensitivity settings.
Is my kid's data safe? What about privacy? +

100%—we follow strict laws (COPPA, GDPR). No selling data, ever. Everything's encrypted, and you control what we store (e.g., delete reels anytime).

💡 PARENTING TIP
Review privacy settings together - teaches kids about digital footprints.
🔒 TRANSPARENCY
Data deletion is immediate and permanent - no secret backups. Annual privacy audits are published on the website for full accountability.
⚠️ WARNING
GG never asks for unnecessary info - be suspicious of any email doing so.

Parent testimonial: "Finally, a safe space I trust." - Carrie, mom of 2

Peace of mind: Founded by parents who get it - privacy isn't negotiable here.

Voice Chat & Friends

How voice chat overlay works, GG Connected Friends, and safe communication

What about voice chat? Is that safe for little ones? +

Voice chat is private and encrypted, only with approved friends. AI monitors for concerning content and can flag issues for your review.

📝 NOTE
Voice chat only works with your approved friend list - no exceptions. You can disable voice entirely with one click if needed.
⚠️ WARNING
Even approved friends can have bad days - AI catches meanness too.

Parent Network & Groups

Inviting parents, creating play groups, and building your parent network

🎮

Accounts & Devices

Using existing Roblox/Minecraft accounts, creating new ones, and managing devices

How many kids/devices per account? And what if we have multiple gamers? +

One parent account handles up to 5 kids' profiles, each on their own device. Perfect for siblings fighting over the iPad. Switch between them seamlessly, and set custom rules per kid (e.g., 45 minutes for the 7-year-old, 90 for the tween).

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 PARENTING TIP
Set up profiles even for kids who "just watch" - they'll want to play eventually. Individual time limits prevent "but she got more time!" arguments.
📝 NOTE
Each kid's progress, friends, and settings are completely separate. Kids can't access siblings' profiles without parent permission.

Screen Time & Reports

Time limits, schedules, reports, and monitoring your child's gaming

Can I see what my kid's doing without hovering over their shoulder? +

Yes! The parent dashboard is your command center:

  • View gaming sessions
  • Chat logs (cleaned up, no TMI)
  • Weekly reports like "Built 3 forts, teamed up with bestie—zero issues!"
  • AI-generated highlight videos
  • Friend activity monitoring

Set friend approvals (only kids you know). It's not spying—it's insight, so you can high-five their wins instead of nagging about time.

💡 PARENTING TIP
Check dashboard during work breaks, not constantly - trust the alerts for urgent stuff. Don't use info to micromanage - let small stuff slide, address patterns.
📊 BALANCE
Reports focus on positives (achievements) not just problems. Kids know you can see summaries, which encourages good behavior without feeling stalked.
Does this help with screen time battles? +

Big time! Set daily/weekly limits (e.g., 1 hour weekdays), schedules (bedtime auto-shutoff), and rewards (extra time for homework done).

Activity reports show patterns—like "Mostly creative play, low frustration"—so you can tweak.

💡 PARENTING TIP
Start limits slightly generous, then tighten - avoids initial rebellion. Be consistent - don't override limits unless truly special occasions.
NOTE
Auto-shutoff gives 5-minute warnings so kids can save progress. 87% of parents report fewer screen time arguments within 2 weeks.

Parent testimonial: "Time limits were my nightmare; GG fixed that." - Katie, mom of 4

Can we play together as a family? +

Right now, families connect by watching and discussing the highlight reels together. Share the AI-generated videos for "What did you make today?" chats. It's turning our evenings from "Log off!" to "Show me that level!"

You can see what your kids are creating and celebrate their achievements together through the parent dashboard.

🎮 PARENTING TIP
Use the highlight reels for family bonding time - watch them together and let your kids explain their strategies and creations.
🚀 COMING SOON
Later this year, we're launching co-view mode so you can watch your child's gameplay in real-time!
Is there education or learning in the games? +

Yep—beyond fun, games like Minecraft teach coding basics, teamwork, and creativity. It's sneaky learning: My kid's geometry grades improved after "just playing."

📚 PARENTING TIP
Ask teachers if Minecraft builds can count as creative projects.
🎓 EDUCATIONAL ANGLE
Many kids learn typing, problem-solving, and resource management without realizing. Roblox Studio teaches real coding concepts in Lua programming language. Social skills from collaborative play often transfer to school group work.

Technical Support

Connection issues, performance problems, and getting help

What if the internet stinks or streaming lags? +

Cloud gaming needs steady Wi-Fi, but we optimize for real life (low-res mode for slower speeds).

Quick fixes:

  • Close other apps
  • Restart router
  • Play wired if possible

If issues pop, our 24/7 chat fixes it fast—I've been there, they saved my road-trip game night.

🔧 TECH TIP
Do a "tech check" Sunday nights - restart router, clear cache, update browsers. Switching to 5GHz Wi-Fi band usually solves 90% of lag issues.
⚠️ WARNING
Public Wi-Fi (coffee shops) might be too slow - test before promising game time.
📝 NOTE
Most issues are home Wi-Fi, not GG servers - support helps troubleshoot both.
